BIS Certification for Footwear Bureau of Indian Standard is a National Standard body responsible for maintaining the quality of products available in the Indian market. To do so, BIS provides licences to the manufacturers after auditing the manufacturing unit and product sample testing from a BIS recognized laboratory. Hence we can say that BIS ensures the safety and reliability of the products, promoting import and export, minimizing the health hazards for consumers, and hence helping to improve the national economy. A collection of guidelines in the form of a step-by-step method has been produced to assist footwear manufacturers in obtaining BIS certification.
